In the Russian Empire, baptism penetrates in the second half of the XIX century, initially in the Ukraine, the Baltic States,
Transcaucasia. In the 70s in St. Petersburg appeared close to the Baptist movement of Evangelical Christians. In 1905, the Union of Baptists and the Union of evangelicals were created in connection with the decree on toleration. In 1944, they were United and the Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists of the USSR was created. In 1945, some Pentecostals joined the Union, and in 1963, fraternal Mennonites joined it. At the head of the Union was elected
Congress of all-Union Council of Evangelical Christians-Baptists (SEHB).
In the 60s of the XX century, the reverse process begins. In 1965, a group of communities headed by the Council of churches of the ECB was separated from the all-ECB. Its leaders demanded to strengthen the religious education of children and young people, fought for the civil rights of believers, freedom of preaching and missionary activity. In the 70 years, three independent organizations were formed: the Union of the ECB, the Council of churches of the ECB and the Autonomous churches
EXB. Since the late 80’s, due to the democratization of public life, Pentecostals were granted the right to register and they began to form an independent Association.
In the early 30-ies of the XIX century. in the United States from the Baptist separated religious movement Adventism (from lat. adventus-coming). The founder of this Church, William Miller, announced that he had accurately calculated the date of the second coming of Christ-March 21, 1843. However, on this day, the second coming did not take place.
The date of the second coming was postponed by a year. But even in 1844, the prophecy did not come true. Now Miller’s receivers do not name the exact timing of the second coming, but his expectation and belief in the imminent proximity is one of the distinctive features of Adventism. Thus, Adventism is one of the varieties of eschatological faiths. Adventists teach that the world will soon be destroyed by fire. And a new land will be created for believers. Man dies spiritually and physically. He can also be resurrected with body and soul. The resurrection will take place after the second coming of Christ. This resurrection will be found by the righteous-Adventists who profess its teachings and lead an appropriate way of life. Jesus Christ at the second coming will establish his / her millennial Kingdom, in which the righteous will enjoy intimacy with Jesus Christ. After this period, the unrighteous will also be resurrected, in order to serve forever.-
live the righteous. Of the various branches of Adventism, the Seventh-day Adventists (ASD) were the most widespread, and Helen white (1827-1915) became the founder and leading figure of this Church. She made two important points. The first – about the celebration of the seventh day-Saturday and the second – about ” medic-
Noah reform.” In the first case, reference is made to the old Testament, where the seventh day of the week on which the Lord “rested from works” is called Saturday. In the second case, the idea of a kind of austerity – sanitary reform, which should prepare the human body for the resurrection. This reform proclaims a ban on the use of pork, tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol. Internationally, Adventists are United in
as part of the General conference since 1863 in Russia, this denomination appears in the 80 – ies of the XIX century. The seventh-day Adventist Church is currently active.
The United States became the birthplace of another major trend of Protestantism — Pentecostalism. The name of this direction is connected with the story about the new Testament Book “Acts of the apostles” (P. 118) “about the descent of the Holy spirit on the apostles on the fiftieth day after Easter and their resulting ability to prophesy and speak in different languages” (glossalia). Therefore, while remaining close in their creed and rites to the Baptist, Pentecostals emphasize the possibility of direct mystical communion with God during worship and ” the baptism of the Holy Spirit.” The one who has passed such baptism and has been sanctified can become an organ
The Holy spirit and receive the gift of Providence and prophecy. Pentecostal prayer meetings are characterized by an atmosphere of extreme nervous excitement and religious exaltation. Pentecostals are divided into several directions. Since 1947, there has been a world Pentecostal conference. Until the end of the 80-ies of the XX century, Pentecostal communities were in an illegal position or as part of the all-KHB.
